About Oak City K9
Mike Buonasorte, Owner and Head Trainer

As a dedicated husband and father, I understand firsthand the importance of having a well-behaved family dog. My wife, Allison, and I share our home with our three beautiful children, five dogs, and two cats—so I know just how much our pets become part of the family. That’s why I’ve made it my mission to help owners build strong, lasting bonds with their dogs through effective, personalized training.
I’ve worked with dogs of all temperaments—whether they’re happy-go-lucky pets, high-drive working dogs, or those struggling with severe behavioral issues. My goal is to give you the confidence and skills to handle any situation while ensuring your dog thrives in your home.
With years of experience helping over 1,000 clients reach their training goals, I bring both expertise and heart to my training. I graduated at the top of my class from the prestigious Tom Rose School for Professional Dog Trainers, where I trained under some of the best in the industry and gained hands-on experience working with a variety of dogs and behavioral challenges.

Beyond training, I am deeply committed to giving back to the animal community. I actively volunteer with a local animal rescue, where I help rehabilitate shelter dogs and serve on the internal team to ensure the rescue takes in the best candidates for successful adoption. This work fuels my passion and reinforces my belief that every dog deserves a chance to succeed.

I continue to challenge myself and grow by competing with my personal dogs in various dog sports and staying up-to-date on the most effective training methods and behavior techniques. I believe in being a lifelong student—learning from every dog I meet and every owner I work with.

If you're looking for a trainer who truly understands both dogs and their people, I’d love the opportunity to help you and your four-legged companion build a stronger, more fulfilling relationship.
